Discover one of our highlights in 2025 – the PowerShield 500, which was specially developed for the grid and system protection of PV systems with a total output of up to 500 kW.

The PowerShield 500 is a state-of-the-art mains and system protection device that has been developed in accordance with the new VDE-AR-N 4105 low-voltage directive.

It serves as decoupling protection on the generating unit and is only to be operated in conjunction with a higher-level decoupling protection or equivalent in accordance with TAR for the respective grid connection level (normally “medium voltage” in accordance with VDE-AR-N 4110). The product includes the mains protection relay, associated test disconnect terminals, the communication connection and the coupling switch.

For which systems is the PowerShield 500 suitable?

The PowerShield 500 is ideal for PV systems with a total output of up to 500 kW and a maximum feed-in power of 270 kW. It is particularly suitable for projects in the C&I sector (Commercial & Industrial) and can initially only be used in Germany due to its conformity with the latest VDE guidelines. In a further step, it will also be possible to use it in Austria in compliance with the OVE guidelines.
